I finally figure I'm screwed, I'll try and just hit the gas and go. 5 hours into my return trip (I was towing without my husband and with two young kids on a back highway with no cell service and absolutely no stops for 2 of those hours😯 ) I pulled over to see where my next gas station was and my truck died. Towed completely normal the whole time (15 hours) until the return trip home. We just took my 2016 f150 ecoboost to west texas over thanksgiving. At the moment, it is unknown what's causing my truck to idle roughly and stall. ![]() The repair shop was also able to duplicate the issue but also noticed a strong smell from the catalytic converter. I took the truck to an independent repair shop to have a diagnostic check and they could not find any stored codes or pending codes pertaining to this issue. ![]() ![]() After the truck restarts there is no fault light on the dash and truck acts like nothing happened. Every time the truck stalls, the cel does not come on or any other dash light except the battery light and I can restart the truck immediately with no issues. Outside temps are no factors as this happens in cold wintery conditions or hot and humid weather. So far this issue has only happened on city streets. This will happen when I make a multi stop trip, for example if I stop at the market on the way home from work, or sometimes even just returning home from work. ![]() Since I purchased the truck it will develop a rough idle and will stall while at a stop light. 0l used with about 69k miles on it and had it for nearly a year now.
